Oracle Linux is binary compatible with Red Hat Linux, meaning that all your applications should continue to work without any issue; system libraries are unaffected by the conversion. Nevertheless, it goes without saying that you should make a full backup of your server and know how to restore it before beginning any conversion activities.

Once you’ve got your backup safely stored away (but close at hand in case of emergency!), you can easily convert from RHEL to Oracle Linux from the public-yum server. Download and verify the Oracle Linux GPG Key that best matches your RHEL-compatible release and then follow the Getting Started instructions beginning with step 2.
